WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

by Chris Hirsch

I always knew that I would like wildlife photography but never had the time or the

proper equipment to do it right.  After Nikon came out with the camera with the specifications

I wanted (and more), I finally decided to make the plunge and start acquiring what I needed.

Of course, being on a strict budget, there was lots of research and shopping for affordable

deals but I am finally putting together a modest collection of lens and other stuff needed to take quality photos.

I soon realized that owning the most expensive, high-end equipment (which I don't have) does not mean someone

will be a good photographer.  It takes lots of practice, some luck and most of all, an immense amount of time

and patience.  I have been blessed with the patience and I will find the time.

The following photos were taken using a very inexpensive, low-quality telephoto lens.

The quality suffered somewhat but I like the content.  These were my first bird photos.

Cactus Flower - many years ago while researching an early Texas site near College Station, TX, I saw a small cactus that had bloomed.

The flower was so unique that I carefully dug it up and brought it home.  Every year it gives us many very unique flowers.
